Bass Soapbars
Upgrade pickups for your bass with rounded rectangular pickups which are commonly known as soapbars. The Soapbar pickup shape is among the most universal in bass guitars, and we have a variety of shapes to ensure that whatever bass you’re playing, you can make it sound massive and clear with Bartolini tone!
All models feature fully encapsulated coils to protect against the rigors of professional bass players — sweat, microphonic noise, and feedback. Bartolini Bass Soapbars are passive designs that can be used with passive controls or with an onboard preamp for an active instrument.
As a pro-level artist, you can fine tune your voice in your soapbar bass. We make pickups with a lot of different voices in a lot of different shapes. To find your pickup, you can start by finding your voice or start with finding your shape. Or you can do a quick search if you already know what you want.
Start by Finding Your Voice
The pickups in your bass have a big influence on your voice. Your voice is a combination of your pickups, strings, instrument materials and construction, and playing technique. The voice of your pickups is determined by the sensing structures — the magnetic field projected onto the strings and the interaction of the magnetic field with the coils.
We offer several carefully designed pickups series with different sensing structures so you can develop your voice. Check out the sensing structures below — Blue represents a South magnetic field, and Red represents a North magnetic field. A 5-String P2 shape is shown for reference. Original
No other pickup can deliver the gigantic, luxuriant lows of the legendary Original Barts. They are full and warm for that vintage tone you’ve been craving, enhancing the natural voice of your bass. You’ll never find lower tones produced with higher clarity!
Classic Bass
Rich, deep voice with lots of high-end clarity and warmth. They have enhanced treble response and higher output than our Original bass pickups and offer bold, up-front clarity that adds dimension to your voice.
Original Quads
Original Quad Soapbars can handle wide string spacing and produce a clear, defined voice. The pickups are very much like our Original Soapbars, but have 4 coils instead of 2 with more coil splitting options.
2J Squared
All about flexibility – like having 4 Jazz Bass pickups in a dual soapbar bass. They can have a huge voice or precise focus. We started with 2 of our hugely popular 9J passive hum-cancelling Jazz bass pickups and installed them in an soapbar shell.
Original Splits
Original Splits provide you with deep lows and low-mids along with nice treble complexity for manageable growl. They are very responsive, full and warm for a vintage, clear tone to bring out the natural voice of your bass.
P Soapbars
For P-Bass® voice in a soapbar bass, you need P Soapbars. Used alone, in pairs, or with a J Soapbar, P Soapbars provide a flexible solution for great tone. P Soapbars have thick, deep voice with huge bass response.
J Soapbars
Get our Original J-Bass voice in the shape that fits your bass! J Soapbars are full and warm for that vintage tone you want with massive lows and low-mids while enhancing the natural voice of your bass.
SINGULARITY
When you want a pro-level pickup, but you want it as simple as possible, this is your choice. SINGULARITY pickups are true, huge, fat single coils. They are massive for a deep, thick voice. The field is depicted here as purple for simplicity to indicate either north or south — the neck pickup is north, and the bridge is south polarity.
