Florence and the Machine – Dog Days Are Over
I have always said if I could be immediately proficient on any instrument. By that I mean if I could wake up with 50 years of experience on the instrument of my choice. It would absolutely be the harp. I have always loved the delicate but intricate sounds they create. I’m a huge joanna Newsome fan but the queen of bringing the harp to the masses has to be Florence and the machine right? Let’s learn to play Dog Days Are Over on the ukulele.
What Are We Learning To Play?

Ukulele Tabs
The main part of this song is the opening chord pattern on the harp. Its a chord progression of G Major, A minor and then E minor. They are inversions of those chords and only require 3 fingers per chord. Use your first finger on the 5th fret of the A and then your middle and ringer fingers on the E and C respectively. This is going to make changing to the next chords much easier. All you need to do is swap your middle and ring your finger around.
The rest of the tab is following the vocal melody from the pre-chorus and main chorus. I have tabbed it out in case anybody wants to give it a go but I only really added it to beef up the video a little bit. The most iconic part of the instrumental is undoubtedly that intro though.
