Extreme (Экстрим) — американская хард-рок-группа, популярная в конце 80-х — начале 90-х.
Их музыкальные пристрастия были: Queen и Van Halen ( к последним вокалист Экстрим Гэри Чероне впоследствии присоединился).
Группа известна своими многоголосными вокальными гармониями и виртуозной гитарной игрой, которая сочетала звуковую палитру глэма и шред-метала. Сами Extreme характеризовали свой стиль как funky-metal (так же называлась и их собственная паблишерская «этикетка»).
Дебютный эпонимический альбом группы (1989) запомнился главным образом нешаблонным взглядом на господствовавший в ту пору хайр-метал и боевиками «Two Little Girls», «Play With Me», «Kid Ego» и “Mutha (Don’t Wanna Go To School Today)».
Но уже вторая программа «Pornographitty» (1990) показала группу во всей красе разнообразия. В рамках программы органично соседствовали самые различные материи: хлёсткий хард-фанк песен «Get The Funk Out» и «Decadance Dance», акустическая гитарная баллада «More That Words» и джазовый номер «When A First Kissed You», где гитар не было вовсе, далекое от «фальшивого металла» грамотное и к месту обращение с классическими гармониями в номерах «Song For Love» и «He Man Woman Hater», а также причудливый кантри-фанк «Hole Hearted».
На следующем диске «III Sides Of Every Story» (1992), символически разделенном на три части: «Твоё», «Моё» & «Правда», группа продолжила череду рискованных экспериментов: аранжированный духовыми фанк «Politicalamity»

More Than Words is a ballad written and originally performed by the rock band Extreme. It is built around acoustic guitar work by Nuno Bettencourt and the vocals of Gary Cherone (with harmony vocals from Bettencourt). Released in 1990 on the album Extreme II: Pornograffiti, the song marked a departure from the funk metal that had permeated the band’s style previous to its release.
The song was described by Bettencourt as a song warning that the phrase «I love you» was becoming meaningless: «People use it so easily and so lightly that they think you can say that and fix everything, or you can say that and everything’s OK. Sometimes you have to do more and you have to show it—there’s other ways to say ‘I love you.'»
The video for «More Than Words» was parodied by «Weird Al» Yankovic for his original song, «You Don’t Love Me Anymore». The comedic duo Paul and Storm produced an original pastiche of the song entitled «More Than Two» on their album Gumbo Pants. Also, Amateur Transplants wrote a comedic song to the same tune as «More Than Words» entitled «Northern Birds», which was released on their 2006 album «We Are So Bad». The video was also parodied by Jason Segel and the cast of How I Met Your Mother in an online tie-in music video on the episode «The Sexless Innkeeper». An Indian styled version of the song and video was parodied by Mike Myers in his film «The Love Guru».ApologetiX asserts the proposition to Christians that they cannot earn salvation with «More than Works».
