Backstreet Boys — Drowning

Группа Backstreet Boys образовалась в 1993 году в Орландо, штат Флорида. В состав коллектива вошли Ник Картер (28.01.1980), Эй Джей Маклин (09.01.1978) и Хоуи Доро (Dorough) (22.08.1973), к которым немного позднее присоединились Кевин Ричардсон (03.10.1971) и его двоюродный брат Брайан Литтрелл (20.02.1975).
Благодаря помощи бывшего менеджера New Kids On The Block Джонни Райта и его жены Донны, которые стали работать с Backstreet Boys, в 1994 году парни заключили контракт с лейблом Jive Records. Первый сингл “We’ve Got It Goin’ On”, выпущенный в 1995 году, сначала завоевал твердые позиции в Германии и впоследствии покорил большую часть других европейских стран. Однако в США сингл не вошел даже в Top 50.

В июне 1996 года группа добивается успеха в британских чартах, где их хит “Get Down (You’re The One For Me)” попадает на четырнадцатое место. Коллектив побеждает в номинации «Лучший новичок» на церемонии вручения премии Smash Hits Awards.
После переиздания своих ранних синглов группа оказывается на третьей строчке британского хит-парада с песней “We’ve Got It Goin’ On”, а их следующая вещь “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” занимает восьмую строчку в ноябре.

В конце 1996 года группа выпускает дебютный альбом в Европе и Канаде, где диск получает большой успех и попадает на первые места в хит-парадах. Лишь в следующем году Backstreet Boys добиваются успеха на родине, благодаря синглам “Quit Playin’ Games (With My Heart)” и “As Long As You Love Me”. Их первый альбом также входит в первую тридцатку в США.
