Эти серийные номера не имеют ничего общего с номерами на головке грифа. В случае, когда на гитаре стоит номер как на головке грифа, так и на железной пластине, ориентироваться следует по номеру, находящемуся на головке грифа. Если номер на пластине имеет 6 цифр, то первые 2 цифры значат год, а последующие 4 цифры номер гитары среди общего количества гитар этой модели, произведенных за год, или же номер гитары среди общего числа гитар этой модели, произведенного за все время. 4х-значный номер на пластине — серийный номер самой пластины.
Пластины моделей JEM и UV.
Пластины моделей JEM имеют 6ти-значный номер. Первые две цифры означают год выпуска гитары, последующие 4 цифры соответствуют номеру гитары в общем количестве произведенных за все время гитар этой модели. В случае, когда используется стандартная для нескольких моделей пластина, 4х-значный номер на ней представляет собой просто порядковый номер пластины.
Номер 870060 следует расшифровывать так: 60я по счету гитара JEM 1987 года выпуска.
Кроме серийных номеров пластин UV самого начала 1990го года(начинаются с 00), первые две цифры их серийных номеров совпадают с последними цифрами года выпуска: 00 и 90 соответствуют 1990 году, 91 — 1991му. Пластина модели Universe, имеющая номер 912787 указывает нам на 1991 год выпуска и 2787ю по счету гитару этой модели. Начиная с 1993 года цифры на пластинах на гитар модели JEM не содержат сведений о годе выпуска. Основная часть номеров на пластинах этого времени имеет вид 25****. В этом случае следует обратиться к номеру на головке грифа. Некоторые гитары не имеют номера на головке грифа, в частности BFP с прямо поставленными звукоснимателями, пластины которых имеют номера с 16**** по 25****. Нумерация гитар модельного ряда UV также перешла к номерам на металлических пластинах: номер 912787 указывает на 1991г.в. Это 2787я по счету гитара модели Universe.
Пластины серии JS.
Гитары серии JS, сделанные в Японии, имеют пластину с порядковым номером начиная с 1993 года. Эти пластины называют J-plates из-за префикса J. Но примерно начиная с номера J 002700 префикс был упразднен. Номер J 000001 стоит на пластине гитары 1993 года выпуска, которую называют Donnie(предположительно это инструмент Jim Donahue, сейчас находяшийся в коллекции Hoshino USA). Одна из гитар серии JS 2003′ года выпуска JS2000 имеет номер 010044 на пластине. Единственным способом точно узнать год выпуска такой гитары является изучение паспорта инструмента, или каталога. Иногда(примерно в районе 1995 года) гитары этой серии имеют обычную наклейку с префиксом F и серийным номером на головке грифа.
Двухгрифовые гитары STW — 7/6 Double neck — на этих инструментах используются пластины JS с номерами вида 006****. Некоторые такие гитары имели две пронумерованных пластины, некоторые одну пронумерованную, одну без номера.
Пластины гитар USAC(Американский Ibanez)
Пластины Bensalem, Pa. Address Plates — в черном и хромированном исполнении, аналогично пластинам JS, имеют 6ти-значный номер. Первыми двумя цифрами обозначен год выпуска, следующие четыре цифры представляют собой порядковый номер инструмента USAC. 880675 — номер гитары USAC выпущенной в 1988 году 675й по счету(в общем числе гитар USAC). На пластинах периода с 1988 по 1990 год написан адрес «Bensalem, Pa»(тогда фабрика H&S там располагалась). Заметьте, эта надпись вовсе не значит, что гитара произведена в США. Надпись свидетельствует о том, что гитара собрана из японских комплектующих и покрашена в США.
Пластины North Hollywood Address Plates — фабрика H&S переезжает в Los Angeles в конце1990 — начале1991года, соответственно на пластинах гитар собранных и произведенных в США в этот период появляется адрес North Hollywood и серийный номер, метод расшифровки которого аналогичен методу, пименяемому к номерам на пластинах Bensalem.
5ти-значный номер, отпечатанный на задней стороне головки грифа на моделях AANJ USAC. 92398 предположительно значит 398ю по счету гитару, сделанную в 1992 году.

Ibanez officially uses serial numbers on their guitars from September 1975 onwards. But some guitars from 1974 also have a number, which can not be traced back to a production period. he serial numbers generally consist of a string of letters and numbers, but in some cases only numerically.
Where to find the serial number
On Ibanez guitars built from the 70s you will find the serial number stamped or a sticker on the headstock, or on the cover plate of the neck mounting or when acoustic on the neck block or label.

| In 1908 Matsujiro Hoshino started a bookstore that sold books and sheet music as well musical instruments. The guitar production is outsourced to different companies in various countries where the numbering schemes are different in each factory. You usually find the serial number on the back of the headstock on a sticker or stamped on the headstock itself, or on the metal cover plate between the neck and the body. At acoustic guitars you will find the serial number stamped or written on the label in the hollow body, or stamped on the neck block inside the guitar.
