Разработчик Uber Филипп Ванг (Philip Wang) создал сайт ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com, который генерирует реалистичное лицо несуществующего человека при каждом обновлении страницы. Для разработки ресурса Ванг использовал алгоритм генеративно-состязательной сети (StyleGAN), работу которого в конце 2017 года показала Nvidia. При этом алгоритм машинного обучения GAN первым описал Ян Гудфеллоу (Ian Goodfellow) из Google ещё в 2014 году.
StyleGAN комбинирует две нейросети: одна из них генерирует «образцы», а другая пытается отличить реалистичные изображения от неправдоподобных. Метод позволяет сети самой улучшать качество выдаваемых результатов. Nvidia использовала алгоритм при создании реалистичных изображений несуществующих голливудских звёзд.
Хотя эта версия модели генерирует человеческие лица, StyleGAN также можно использовать для создания аниме-персонажей, котов, шрифтов и граффити.

Welcome to This Pony Does Not Exist * . This site displays a grid of AI-generated pony portraits trained by arfa using nVidia’s StyleGAN2 architecture.
The training dataset consisted of
104k SFW images from Derpibooru, cropped and aligned to faces using a custom YOLOv3 network. The cropping data is archived in this GitHub repository.
The model used transfer learning to fine tune the final model from This Fursona Does Not Exist on the pony dataset for an additional 13 days (1 million iterations) on a TPUv3-32 pod at 512×512 resolution. It was then scaled up to 1024×1024 resolution using model surgery, and trained for an additional 200k iterations to produce the final 1024×1024 model.
The model is available for download here (364MB).

The training dataset consisted of
55k SFW images from e621.net (excluded ponies and scalies for now; more on that later), cropped and aligned to faces using a custom YOLOv3 network. The cropping data is archived in this GitHub repository.
The network was trained for 33 days (3.2 million iterations) on a TPUv3-32 pod.
The final images were scaled up to 2x resolution and denoised using Waifu2x.
The model is available for download here (347MB) and here.
